There was tough competition at this years regional House of the Year Awards but this home just had something special about it and wowed the judges from the originating design, the complexity of the build to the craftmanship and finish of this home.
Privately located near the base of Mt Maunganui this home is an astonishing piece of architecture that maximises a small and difficult site and creates a private haven.
The resulting home boasts 272sqm of luxury living in a beautiful beach town setting. Three bedrooms, three bathrooms and three living spaces are spread over five split levels.
The living areas are interconnected through a series of glass balustrading and floating walls dividing the open-plan space, and allowing light to flood the space.
The unique site is surrounded by other homes and apartments but maintains a partial view of the Mount. Clever placement of windows provides complete privacy while maximising the available views and ensuring light fills the home. This is evident in rooms like the master bedroom where smaller landscape enlongated windows were installed to capture the view of the Mount but to avoid the neighbouring property.
The exterior has been designed to ensure privacy and to create an interconnection between the outdoor living and the interior living spaces.
